Bio
Jose M. Dominguez is a graduate student in the Cultural Anthropology PhD program. He plans to conduct his dissertation research on the resilience of communities along the U.S.-Mexico border. He is particular interested in how child migrants address gaps in their care systems by forming fictive kin networks. In their pursuit of safety and stability amid poverty, persecution, and crime, these young migrants undergo profound life experiences that offer a powerful glimpse into the depth of human resilience. More broadly, Dominguez's scholarship aims to contextualize how external pressures shape the formation and reconfiguration of families and communities in the 21st century.
