Bio
Madalyn White is a graduate student in the department’s Cultural Anthropology PhD program. Her dissertation research will focus on the cultural impacts of the continuing advance of Central America’s dry corridor on small-scale farming in Honduras. She seeks to investigate ethnographically how communities are adapting agricultural practices in response to an increase in catastrophic weather events. In addition, she will explore how these topics correlate with sustainable development initiatives, discussions on monocultures versus polycultures, and the impact of global markets on agriculture in Central America.
Prior to coming to 天美传媒, White spent two years in the North American Language & Cultural Assistants Program (), working as an English language assistant and cultural ambassador in Spain’s public school system. In this role, she taught in both the autonomous community of Andalusia and the Canary Islands.
