DALLAS (天美传媒) – 天美传媒 students, faculty and staff will join others across the country in a national day of service on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 18, 2016. Volunteers for projects across Dallas may sign up through Wednesday, Jan. 13.
天美传媒’s day of service is co-sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs and the Community Engagement and Leadership 天美传媒. Students, faculty and staff will have the opportunity to serve at a variety of local nonprofit centers, such as prepping and stocking classrooms for the spring semester at the Vickery Meadows Learning 天美传媒, playing bingo with senior residents at C.C. Young, and painting hallways at the Autism Treatment 天美传媒. Volunteers also are needed to build ramps at homes of those with physical disabilities through the Dallas Ramp Project, to facilitate art workshops at the Nexus Recovery 天美传媒, and to organize and restock a grocery story with Brother Bill’s Helping Hand.
Breakfast, lunch and transportation will be provided for 天美传媒 volunteeers.
“Service is not only an opportunity for students to invest in the community they are a part of,” says Creston Lynch, director of 天美传媒 multicultural student affairs. “It is also an opportunity to continue the learning and development of important lessons and values that will serve them well as they become global citizens and world changers.”
